What is crede maneuver?

The Crede maneuver, also known as the suprapubic catheterization technique, is a medical procedure used to empty the bladder by applying pressure to the lower abdomen. It is typically used in cases where a patient is unable to urinate on their own due to conditions such as urinary retention or neurogenic bladder.

During the Crede maneuver, gentle pressure is applied to the lower abdomen just above the pelvic bone, which helps to stimulate the bladder muscles to contract and expel urine. This can be done by either using the hands or by using a device called a Crede syringe.

The Crede maneuver should only be performed by trained medical professionals, as incorrect technique or excessive force can lead to complications such as urinary tract infections or bladder damage. It is important to follow proper medical guidelines and protocols when performing the Crede maneuver to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient.
